Cry Out to the Lord

In many ways we are our own worst enemies. We make excuses for our transgressions, blaming everyone and everything but the real cause-- our own weakness.

Just why this is I'm not sure. Perhaps we flesh and blood human beings are so used to succeeding in business and financial matters, that it is difficult to admit there are some things we have a hard time controlling. So, not wanting to make ourselves appear weak, we blame, make excuses, and do whatever is necessary so the outside world will know that we are in control.

The Bible tells us that without God, man is a weak creature seeking only those things which please the flesh. The problem with this is that before long we find ourselves prisoners of our flesh. And as a prisoner, one is not free. One can also not partake of God's promise of salvation when flesh is the 'master' and God is pushed to the wayside.

Inviting God and His Son Jesus Christ into one's life does not automatically guarantee life will not have it's ups and downs, or that all temptations will disappear. What a relationship with Christ does guarantee is the strength to overcome evil with good when we focus our attention on God and His will. We can also rejoice that through our faith, trust and reliance in Him, salvation is promised.

No, it is not easy to admit we are imperfect and weak creatures. But the rewards of crying out to our heavenly Father are certainly sweet.
